- FARMING DURING GREAT DEPRESSION
- Does not remember farm or commodity prices from the Depression. People who had money in closed banks were out of luck. Banks called in notes & no one could borrow. They could not pay. The banks could not pay their depositors.
- CHILDHOOD ACTIVITIES
- Tells a story about boys stealing watermelons from a farmer's field at night. He also stole watermelons, which was not even a misdemeanor at the time. Some boys found a citron field and thought they were watermelons, so plugged them looking for a ripe one & they ruined the whole crop. Citron is made into preserves and often goes into fruitcakes.
