MIGRANT WORKERS
Working couple that would come from TX but did not want to stay in home on farm year round; Eventually stayed and became managers at the farm labor camp. Always had dinner together; they were friends not just workers. Spoke Spanish and She did not; always an interpreter in the group; Sons could speak Spanish.
FAMILY
Discussion of raising children on the farm. Son Brad was involved with FFA. He was able to boss a crew. He worked in the Navy and came back for four years. Youngest son was not old enough to work on the farm. Oldest son saw father and grandfather struggle and did not want the farm. As a wife she learned not become jealous of the farm. Kids always had to work for a couple of hours on the farm and then they were allowed to be kids.
FARM-RELATED WORK
Kids went to school in Carbondale area. After loss of the farm Husband went to Arizona to advise orchard; They did not have any equipment. Then moved to San Juaquin CA to sell equipment; sold spray rigs and batwing mowers. Irene went to work in Hickory farms cheese shop.
