FARM BUSINESS
Producing 10 million pounds of herbs, herbs are about 20% of our production, 80% of our production comes from fruits and vegetables, Fruits and vegetables come from all over the world, Lists products and where they are purchased from, International crops come into the country in container and then they need to be inspected, a lot of lead time is needed for international orders, Decides on what to freeze dry depending on what customers wanted, If the product is on hand they could ship immediately but if not it could take longer, A lot of orders depend on customer relationship, Global Market is different than the old local Chicago market, "people interested in price quality and service", all products go through testing lab to ensure quality.
GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS
Used to send out samples to food labs, with rules and a larger need created a lab, quality of food has increased a lot, "Our food is very safe", pesticides and herbicides used to not be safe but they are now, Most of food industry is self controlled, FDA only checks when there is a problem, FDA does check chemicals and regulates those, Most government programs are good, "problem with government is that it works after the fact", "Government gets blamed for to many things and because of that they try to control to much I would say".
