FARM EQUIPMENT
Sprayers for trees, pruners for trees, packing facility and refrigeration system. Specialized equipment. Prune in the spring to foster air circulation, light fertilization. Spray when bloom against disease. Thin blooms to promote fruit size. Spray every two-three weeks. Keep fescue grass mowed to keep nutrients and water for the trees. Traps catch insects. Bloom April 9, pick July 20. Still pick by a man with a sack around his neck. Tried machines, but they bruise the fruit. Pickers get paid by the sack-full. Have to guaranty them minimum wage; some make $12-13/hour. Pays social security and workmen's compensation. Paying 66 cents per sack.
