- Met wife Connie in college when she was a freshman; dated throughout college and got married when he was to start work in St. Louis. Has a son Thaddeus who is eleven and a daughter, Marrisa, who is six. Thinks his son will be an engineer and daughter may be the farmer.

- Connie worked for Commodity Analyst in Morton. Matt started working for GrowMark when they moved back south of Bloomington from St. Louis. Talks about operating a tractor and combine when he was younger.
