- They have a large compost operation on the farm. Footage of a machine grinding and depositing compost material. They charge between $8-10 a yard to come in, and between $5-15 to go out. Once a year they have an open house and give away bags of compost material. The pile turner is the newest on the market, from Germany. It takes the bottom of the pile and puts it on top. They try to keep the temperature between 130 and 150 degrees to keep the bacteria alive. The compost contains organic yard clippings, grass, sticks, flowers, bacteria.
