Doug Parrett stands in front of one of the research barns at the new Beef Research unit at the University of Illinois. This facility, completed in 2002, is the largest and newest beef research facility in the United States. Focus on research currently is on the utilization of corn by-products as cattle feed, determinations of efficient cattle genetics, and genomics (DNA strategies) for beef improvement.
