FARM WORK

Bert laments fact that most people couldn't read. Story of fellow who believed what he was told by those who could read was always true. (addenda item# 42, see Aikman 5, Clip# 773)

TRANSPORTATION
Bert gives details of uncomfortable train trip, i.e., hard seats & little to eat. Mentions buying pineapple at a stop & eating it. Mentions bananas were just being distributed to Midwest at this time from New Orleans. Story of Tuff Lohman's horse-team giving up in snow & coming to Bert for horses & wagon to get groceries in town for everybody in area.
