FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Only celebration of Christmas was an orange, candy or kerchief on their chairs. Colored eggs for Easter. No presents on birthdays or wedding anniversaries.
FARMING DURING GREAT DEPRESSION
No memories of the Depression.
FARMING DURING WWII
Remembers saving with sugar and coffee. More people went out to jobs during WWII. Women worked out of the home. Men's jobs were available. Mrs. Honey never worked outside home except as a teacher before marriage.
NON-FARM WORK
Husband decided to be a preacher after attending church convention. Took correspondence courses at Cincinnati Bible Seminary and Phillips Bible Institute for two years. Practiced preaching on the cows as he milked. Had hired help.
