- Story of milk-cows needing sugar & falling out with Weidlocher's because they wouldn't sell him blackstrap-molasses. Winfred took his business to Schafer Feed County All egg cartons bought from Schafer's which also ran a hatchery. Tells of cockerels not being worth much because they would eat more than larger hens & thus did not make good [profitable] broilers. Discussion of how Schafer got their chicken stock, inspection of eggs, & keeping disease out of their flock. Used sulmite mixed with water to cure chickens of a "bloody scours" disease.
