Grew up on a farm in southern Illinois. Chore included cleaning horse stalls, gardening. Friends were farm kids. Deer hunters and townsfolk didn't understand about livestock running around. Calf shot for a deer.
LIVESTOCK
Raised beef, worked at a feed store, and did publications for FFA.
CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Attended a county rural school. Teachers taught two grades. Consolidated for 4th grade. Seventy in high school class.
FARM BUSINESS
Uncle owns farm now. Raised cattle and horses, chickens, potatoes. Women slaughtered chickens, canned. No junk food.
