ACTIVITIES
Continues description of musical evenings in her family. She has no knowledge of origins of her family and that is not important in her family. Music nights took place often in the winter and early spring, when farm work is lighter. Had picnics in warm weather. Broke up about eleven p.m. so people from Pleasant Plains and Petersburg could drive home. She laments that in the time since these music nights (1920s and 1930s), any music talent in later generations has not been developed. Playing by ear was looked down on as backwards, playing by note required more practice, tastes changed, and family members dispersed.
