- Many events & activities recalled while looking at photo-album. Comment on many trees down in picture of 1924 ice-storm. Family did not celebrate Christmas with a tree. Points to haystacks, cane-mill, & people in pictures. Discussion of how sorghum was made. Mentions layout of smokehouse with earthen hearth (hole in earth floor) in middle for burning hickory. Mentions a man named Powers compiled history of Sangamon County Mentions establishment of daylight savings time in WWI. Had to hustle to get to Chautauqua in Tallula.
