The Pantograph news featured articled on the Ackeman home included these photographs of the light, airy parlour with its large windows and lace curtains, and the chairs pushed against the walls when the room was not being used. they could be gathered around a table or fireplace at night. The dining room, which was used for formal dining, had a built-in china buffet, cabinets, and elegant lighting fixtures. It also features oak woodwork and door, a plate rail at eye-height, and a lambrequin (cloth) decorating the plate shelf of the china cabinet.
