The R model was made between 1949 and 1954. It has 48 horsepower and a 2-cylinder engine. It was John Deere's first diesel. It had live PTO (power take-off, which is a drive shaft that sticks out of the back end, is attached to the engine and spins at the same speed. It is used for powering removable implements such as mowers, balers, and power rakes.)
