HEALTH
Mentions death of father in 1931 due to enlarged heart. Father worked very hard. "Wasn't anything he wouldn't do." Father would not stay in Springfield Hospital, he just got dressed & walked out. Father told to stop working hard, but he couldn't. Story of father passing away in chair waiting for mother to make pancakes. Mentions country Dr. in Newmansville. No phones so you had to go by horse to get doctor. Mother didn't have doctor deliver babies. Did not call doctor often. Story about going to get doctor in snowstorm.
FARM WORK
Mentions father shoeing horses. Father did not have patience for much blacksmith work. Story of cussing when horse wouldn't hold still & father wouldn't hold still when his wife trimmed his toenails.
