- Discussion of first cars, their gearing, & price. Story of troublesome tires. Discussion of duties as roads-commissioner. Keeping roads clear in winter was a lot of trouble & took a lot of money. Mentions having to shovel snow by hand in winter to keep roads open for mail. Road equipment consisted of a tractor & road grader. Grader did not have much power & horses often helped pull it.
