- Bert notes that Osage-orange was grown at nurseries. Bert describes how the hedge fence was grown & made. Farmers bought plants, set them where they wanted a fence, & had to cultivate land to get them to grow properly. Took about 4 yrs to grow good hog fence. Problem was it took land away from cropland. "Men got to be greedy…."
