- Describes his grandfather's sister's marriage to a man from Olney who did not have to work all hours to make a living. He grafted two kinds of apples onto one tree. He worked on grape arbors and yards. He earned more money in cash than James' grandfather on his farm.
- FARM WORK
- Story of grandfather working in field at age of 86 with horses aged 24 & 26.
- HOGS
- Story about grandfather, in his 80s, who went missing one afternoon. Had been walking with his cane around the yard. James found him in the hog house, a low building. He had wanted to count the young pigs, but the sow had returned and was trying to get him out of the hog house. Grandfather hit it with his cane. James rescued him.
