Washing Sheep,

LIVESTOCK
In 1850, Rolland's grandfather took his sheep into Sangamon Town to wash them before shearing, evidently the practice back then. They rented rails from the saw mill and made a pen on the sloping hill down to the river. They caught each sheep and threw it into the shallow water and washed it.
