- FARM BUSINESS
- Had 20 acres of apples peaches pumpkins and tomatoes for u-pick. Notes insurance issues. Did a lot of u-pick Apples because people did not like the peach fuzz. Apples good supplemental source of income. Tells story about couple picking apples without paying. In return he took car mirror off. Tells a story about young workers mouthing off to husband because E. Irene McGuire & not husband signs the checks.
- LOSS OF FARM
- Went through four possible farm sales. Sold 5 acres at a time to people for homes. Years since she lost the farm but still calls it hers. Discussion about FHA advise. Could not find a buyer to buy the whole farm, so it was cut up into sections and sold it separately. Only one orchard left in the area.
- WOMEN'S WORK
- Worked side by side with men. Notes how men did not trust women's decisions. She had been married 30 years at the time they lost the farm. The men made the major decisions.
- HIRED HELP
- After sale of farm placed add in horticulture magazines looking for managerial position at an orchard. Worked in Arizona for 4 years, and then funding ran out.
