- CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
- Describes difference between country and town school and how he was valedictorian at his country school. Thinks the town kids were envious of country kids because they got to ride on the tractor. No real cliques among the kids.
- FARM ORGANIZATIONS
- Discusses his time in the FFA as an officer, and how he didn't do 4-H because it took too much time. His teacher started a fertilizer business and worked for him. Learned a lot about fertilizer.
- RELIGION
- Mentions going to church every Sunday and praying for rain. Strong part of Catholic upbringing and no animosity between non Catholics. Attended Catechism every Saturday and didn't like it too much.
- FAMILY
- Talks about coming from a big family and always having something to do, whether going out to dinner, working in the fields, or going to weddings and some funerals. A lot of good neighborly help as well. Has three grown kids in the area and watches the grandkids a lot.
- NON-FARM WORK
- Worked for Libby Foods in Chicago right out of college. It was different and harder since he came from a small rural town.
