- Brother Craig was always assumed to take over the farm. He talked it over with his father when a senior in high school. Craig had allergies and sinus. Decided he wanted to be a doctor. Girls were never expected to take over. Father hired managers. Story of Norwegian immigrants who worked American farms for six months. Father met one he thought might stay and buy him out, but did not work out. Dairy continued to operate through the early 1970s. Gave up on succession by family. Meanwhile, Beloit spread out, smaller farmers phased out.
