FARM WORK
Had one hired man at a time, had two sons, machinery took over later. Had an Oliver tractor, big expense, got rid of horses. Borrowed money from the bank and paid it back when sold livestock or crop. Towns had a creamery and bought cream. Some people made and sold butter. Money was always tight & didn't have a lot of cash. Mother did that sold eggs and bought cloth to make clothes. Good memories were of the two old horses, liked being outdoors. No school buses.
ACTIVITIES
Movies on Saturday nights. Skating rinks in old buildings.
FARM WORK
Husbands jobs were most of the major ones; butchering, planting plowing, harvesting. Woman cooked, cleaned, washed, sewed, helped outdoors like hauling corn in pickup.
