- James Wortlaw had a large number of slaves. Addison McFeeders was the executor of his will. When Wortlaw died, he left in his will that he wanted his slaves either sent to Liberia as free men or to not be freed. Most of them chose to return to Africa, and Addison kept a correspondence with many of them.
