CHILDHOOD WORK
He grew up on the apple farm, so did not have many chores then. When older, worked folding boxes for peach picking. Worked in the country store. Grandfather did livestock and business, Uncles had other responsibilities.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Grandmother celebrated Christmas at her house. Children wrote skits that made fun of the parents. Easter at Uncle Kurnell's house. All ate dinner together.
FARM WORK
It is your choice to continue farm work,. Must graduate and get two years experience away from the farm. He always loved the farm.
COLLEGE EDUCATION
Took fruit production classes, but also took finance side of the field. Spent two years in Boston in Shaw's Supermarket chain. The Dean got him an interview. Was corporate buyer of apples. Married next year to local girl, Maggie Boaker. After college, she interned in a Philadelphia nursery, then got scholarship in OH to grad school. Moved to Columbus and got job at custom cuts (salad mixes) for restaurants for a year. Moved back home. She graduated, wanted to close and sell their farm in Bonne Terre, Missouri, but manager quit and they had to finish it.
