HEALTH
Mrs. Honey tells story about not feeling well. She had acute indigestion. Otherwise she has always been healthy & never went to doctor except for when she broke her arm in the basement while cleaning out cobwebs. She would like to cook, but there are plenty of activities at home. She takes care of herself. She has pernicious anemia that needed shot. Had all the children's diseases. Good memory she attributes to repeating poems or scripture that keeps her from worrying. Walks with a cane. "I just make myself go." Story about working in garden, crop of apples, & falling down.
VALUES
She has lived a simple life. "I haven't done anything I was ashamed of." Wishes she had more education. Wishes her husband had taken courses, but they did not have money.
REFLECTIONS
She expects to die in her little room. "This is my home!" "I do not want to live with my children."
RETIREMENT ACTIVITIES
Mrs. Honey describes the exercises she does before getting out of bed & those they do at the dining hall table. Her hobby was making rugs. Now she writes poems about love, her window, the nurses, etc. "You have to think" to write poetry. Mentions a cake decorating class. Really interesting story of nurse disciplining her for helping another 'inmate.' Nurse & preacher told her to go to her room. She smacked the preacher with her cane.
