- ACTIVITIES
- Was raised in a Methodist church, one his ancestors started. He went every Sunday morning with his family. Didn't do any farm work except feed the livestock on Sundays, since the Bible says it’s the day of rest. The family celebrated Christmas and other holidays on the farm. Enjoyed playing sports, such as basketball. Used to sing in musicals and plays and did FFA and 4-H.
- CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
- Went to Stonington High School for four years, graduated in 1969. Did FFA and 4-H in high school. Was a very good public speaker and won awards.
- COLLEGE EDUCATION
- Went to U of I after high school and majored in Animal Sciences, but did General Ag for his four years there. Enjoyed livestock courses, anatomy, physiology and got involved with the livestock judging team, for which he travelled a lot.
- AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES
- Travelled for the livestock judging, and took him all across the country.
