"Lifting as we climb." Discussion of teaching young black women to be responsible & cultured. Group founded by Mrs. Duncan. All privately funded, not government funded. Put on shows to raise money. Describes Mrs. Duncan & family & community activities.
HEALTH
Dr. Ware, a black doctor, was good at dealing with fevers. He had many white patients.
FARMING DURING GREAT DEPRESSION
Tells of how Depression impacted them. Husband was working in greenhouse. Did not loose anything other than a little in the bank. "Carried on just the same." They did not need much. "Fix for your barrel like you did for your life." Took out insurance for car & when traveling on train. Husband acquired greenhouse because he stuck with owner during Depression.

Her husband liked to work, was a Deacon in the church, & was like by many.
