- TOWNS
- John Mansfield settled the township of Mansfield, but never lived there. One of his sons went to St. Louis. His son Oscar had a hardware business. Charles became the state's attorney.
- LIVESTOCK
- Oscar Mansfield brought the first work horses into the area. The Mansfields had the fastest horses in the world at the time. Some of the horses they used were Morgan, Shire, Norman, and Clydes.
- TOWNS
- There were three banks, State Bank, National Bank, and Peoples State Bank. The PSB was established in 1910 and George's dad was the president. George took over in 1916 and served for over thirty years. Mansfield had a population of 780 in 1900. At the time of the interview it was 697.
- TRANSPORTATION
- The railroad was built the year he was born.
- REFLECTIONS
- At the time of the interview, the dollar was unstable. Nonetheless, they had made a lot of advances. There were two churches in the town at the time.
