- FARMING DURING WWII
- Recalls scrap drives, metal & paper. Also collected milkweed seed for life-jackets once a wk in October. Mention of Victory Gardens, regarded as ridiculous on the farm because everyone should have been doing it war or not. Does not recall shoe rationing. Discusses why they did not buy shoes very often. Recalls radio signal that informed people to drive to Bismarck as fast as possible. No real hardships during the war. Farms were self-sufficient & clothing was not important. Visiting relatives did not occur much during WWII. Remembers father worrying about tires due to difficulties in obtaining tires.
