CHILDHOOD ACTIVITIES
Talks about how big the fairs were. Would watch horse races and do 4-H. Talks about what would happen during horseshows. Father would buy salt water taffy. Could stroll up and down the carnival for fun; ride the Ferris wheel and more.
FARM BUSINESS
On father's farm, tenant houses would be rented for free. Would have about six hired help at times. Local men would be hired help, not enough farms for everyone. No hired help on her farm, had the children. Oldest son Eric would help out with the chores around the house and farm by driving the tractor and helping with the livestock.
FARM EQUIPMENT
She and her sisters would drive the Fordson tractor but didn't help in the fields. Still had horses. Had a Farm-All Tractor tractor at the Smith farm. Talks about cultivating the ground and having a tractor mower that is much faster than using horses.
