- Mrs. Williams continues her discussion of her store business. Tells of selling chicken feed that came in bags that people used for clothing. Notes gas rationing. Also sold straw & hay. Husband directed her to stop buying & selling hay & straw. Also sold ammunition & yeast (cut from blocks). Story of state forcing her to sell some of her land surrounding store for a road, including details of lawyers getting state's initial offer increased. Then rehabbed a motel on the property. At first the motel occupants used shower in basement & out house. Later built a shower building. Story of neighbor going to Washington, DC to have WPA bring water & gas to store & motel.
