- FARM EQUIPMENT
- Marseilles Manufactoring Company from Marseilles, IL (later Moline, IL) made manure spreading implements and pitchforks. John Deere acquired the company in 1910. They made conveyors for spreading manuring. Manure was the only way to fertilize crops at the time. The speed of the horses pulling the conveyor determined the rate of application. Before this item, this would have been done by hand. Later the system was fine-tuned so the application rate stayed the same regardless of speed.
