FARM BUSINESS
Peaches that are too ripe are put into the retail market. Peaches are picked piece rate. They pick into a bag and receive a ticket and these tickets effect their pay. They can pick 150 to 200 bushels a day. They've all been trained in color and size. Another person works as quality control. Every crew has a field boss that supervises picking. All picking is done by hand. So is pruning. All of the workers live there and are involved in the community.
CROPS
A freestone peach is where the stone pops out, on the other hand there are cling peaches where the seed is stuck and will never come off. The later varieties have the free stone. Most peopel have never had a ripe peach. Peaches can be made into pies, added in cereal, ate with cottage cheese, made into jam or best just plain.
