- Patricia likes to grow hardshell gourds. She shows one that she tied a knot in. They have a long growing season. She also shows another gourd, the Indonesian bottle gourd, that is very small. She has one gourd that is about four and a half feet long and one over six feet long. They built a fence for the gourds to grown on. She only grows grourds every few years because there are lots of insects and diseases associated with gourds and to combat that she only grows gourds every three years.
