- Discusses how they carved balls from rubber springs that fell off of train suspension (which were the same as used on automobiles). These hand-made balls are reason for town-ball rules. Hit one of these balls & it would go a quarter mile. You couldn't catch the ball on the fly. Mentions making ball-bats. Never saw a catcher's mitt until many yrs later. Discusses "two-cat" another game played at school.
