- FARM FACILITIES
- Continues discussion of drainage tile. Explains about potteries making jars and salt glazes. Speculates on the origins of salt glaze with a story he heard. Remembers that tile might have cost a dollar for one two-foot tile. Explains how to install tiles on a slope so there is drainage, digging ditch for tile three feet or more deep. Tells the story of a Mr. Babb, who bought poorly drained farm and installed lines of tiles four rods apart (every 22 yards), which Herndon thinks may have been too much drainage.
