- Met her husband at University of Illinois. Dated husband for about five years. Courtship of habit. Decided when he knew he was to go to Harvard for PhD. She would go to help out. Small home wedding with relatives attending, neighbor played music, church women did reception. Lots of church weddings were popular then, more usual. She didn't want one because it was asking for gifts.
