FAMILY FARM
Farmed eighty acres, then bought forty more. Raised dairy cattle, Red Hampshire hogs, western horses. Used an old barn until it burned. Neighbors helped build new one. Large with large hayloft, fifteen stanchions for milking. Has to clean whole barn every day.
LIVESTOCK
Father was knowledgeable about horses; bought western horses at St. Louis auctions. He and boys broke them gradually. Describes the process. Broke several at a time on several occasions. Brothers did bronco busting (breaking for riding).
