LIVESTOCK
Had 3-4 head of cows and sold milk later on. Laws forced people to have a special building for milk and to only sell on Sundays. Made own butter and stored it in the cellar in a crock of cold water. Raised a litter of pigs and butchered them every year.
FAMILY
Brother who died was the only one who was married. He was a mechanic at the grain elevator.
NON-FARM WORK
Plans to make furniture when he and his sister move to Donnellson. Has walnut lumber from logs on the farm. Hold collectors' sales, & recalls a harness that was sold for $50 to an antique collector. Wants to build tables, rocking chairs, harness horses, and spinning wheels. Has power saws and electricity in the new house. Sold things at the sale that they would not need in the new house. Regrets selling a buffet and a dining table at the sale.
