- Dr. Leroy Biehl was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1934 to a Ford Motor Company employee. He grew up on a farm in Illinois and graduated from University of Illinois in Veterinary Medicine in 1958. He was a practicing veterinarian in southern Illinois until 1972, when he joined the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, from which he retired in 1999.
