ANIMAL DISEASES
Talks about the different diseases they've come to uncover over the years. Back in the 1950s, they just called the illnesses 'viruses' to cover everything. Mentions how they need to stop giving cows antibiotics because it could get into the milk. You have to raise them drug-free and bug-free. Talks about how the breeding of swine has changed, from making them as fat as possible to less fat. Nutritionists say to eat chicken because there is no fat.
REFLECTIONS
Used to just wait for the phone to ring, dubbed the 'fire-engine practice' and go out and treat the animals, whereas now they set up programs on the farms and farmers can actually use syringes and needles and do procedures themselves. Says those that are interested in becoming a veterinarian should like the sciences, math, and have good studying habits. Says students come up to him and say 'I remember when you told me this…'.
FAMILY
Is thankful for his two sons and how they went to veterinary school, and to his wife for being there for him, especially when she was his secretary in the beginning of his practice.
