Remembers Milliken University's opening in 1906. Describes the ceremony and the arrangements made for William H. Taft and his bodyguard, Archibald Butts. "Taft was so fat he couldn't lace his shoes." Had a seat at the dedication. Remembers Taft as being fat more than being smart. Milliken had 1200 students there plus the academy. People went to Milliken for high school, and then several students went on the University of Illinois. Describes a few classmates of his and their later lives. Discusses the schools his relatives attended. Girls usually attended fewer years of school. Discusses his parents' classmates and his class reunions.
