FAMILY
After the two boys were killed at the neighbor's family, the parents separated. Father was on his third marriage. Discusses marriage and divorce. Was married 64 years.
RETIREMENT ACTIVITIES
Just had her 89th birthday just before the interview, and can still do things around the house. Gardened and canned until recently. Tells story about giving away lots of canned tomatoes to a friend. Takes care of the house, defrosts the refrigerator, hauls garbage, washes and dries clothes in the basement.
FAMILY
Does lots of genealogy work by mail. Minister cousin in Oklahoma goes to Oklahoma City to research and then sends back information. Went to Columbia, MO, to find out about her great-grandfather from a census record of Laclede County, MO, in 1850. Went to Bradley County, TN, for research. Mother's ancestors came to the East Coast from England, and a relative in Massachusetts is writing a book and is getting help from her and another relative in Iowa, and then will send them the book. Has a book on the Mouser family from Germany and four other genealogy books. Brother was named after a minister and went into World War I.
