CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Age when Mr. Mills started school at Sangamo Center District #15 mentioned. Consolidation took place in 1952. Acre of land for the original school from farm across road. Building later rented for "Anti-Thief" organization. Acre of land later sold for $10,500. Didn't want property to become a tavern. About 35-40 students in the school with 8 grades. Mentions names of teachers (Hallie Clark, Bill Chambers, Bill Hoek, & Bessie Pool). Bessie Pool was teaching at age 18-19. Discusses strict discipline, length of school day, & going home for lunch ("dinner"). Other teachers mentioned (Rachael Flagg, Mary Hewitson). After 8th grade some students would go to Williamsville, some to Springfield by riding the Interurban.
