- Describes a 2 month trip to Europe with two 4-H girls and a teacher at University of Illinois they got for winning a national contest connected to a stock show in Chicago. Sponsored by the Chicago Mail Order House. Broadcasted radio messages home from New York City, Chicago, Amsterdam, and London stations from NBC and BBC. Their friends in Menard County would stop all activity to listen to their broadcast. Took the Leviathan across the Atlantic. Met President Hoover at the White House and saw Congress in session. Visited many places including New York City, Amsterdam, Belgium, and their Ministry of Agriculture, Canada, Washington, DC, and WWII battlefields. Made plans for a friend to stay with her husband and foster son during the trip, but the husband did not allow it and sent the friend back.
