- Gray went up to Ann Arbor to register in law school. He had no credentials because he did not have high school. As he was leaving, a law department staff person approached him and said they took special students sometimes, who could make up deficits as they took non-credit courses. He could take tutoring courses from students who needed to teach to pay their way.
