- Now things are done by machine that were done by hand. Example is hauling. Description of wagons. Wagons had beds and sideboards you could add to make the bed deeper for larger loads. If you were hauling rails, you took off the bed and laid them directly on the frame. Lifted everything by manpower. Today they use cranes or pulleys to haul things like iron water tanks..

- He did not have windmills on his place. You dug down 25 or so feet to find a formation that had water in it. To support a herd of cattle, sometimes you had to go down deeper. In Athens, he dug 45 feet and could support two houses, livestock and a herd. Most water here comes from wells. They are heavy with limestone that fills your teapot.
