Orchards are laid out with Drainage in mind; look at the ground and fix the ground so that it will drain right prior to planting; One year trees froze and some trees drowned because of poor drainage; lost tree and crop; her husband and father in law did all the orchard layouts
FARM EQUIPMENT
TAXES
Story of a tax audit. Farmers would get a discount on gas, but husband did not apply one year because he could not get in to apply. They put the figures in for previous year and some one in Springfield called Irene to check her books.; They owned 9 tractors so they used a lot of gasoline. The inspector came with law book and they had to prove all figures. Eventually he fined them for failure of employees to pay State of Illinois income tax. After some research she only had to pay 23 dollars. She would not pay it and the state took it out of their account
